Engine

We have a Bukh 20 HP diesel engine. The inboard fuel tank capacity is 40 gallons. While restoring the inside of the boat's hull, both engine and tank were removed and reinstalled. The new fuel system is plumbed to filter the diesel through a large Racor 500 series filter/water separator. A low pressure flow-through electrical pump will prime the engine before starting. The remote pump will also make bleeding the fuel lines easier and when we have surplus power from the solar panels it can polish the fuel to prevent algae/sludge build-up. On that note, three 5 inch access holes were cut into the top of the fuel tanks, between the baffles, to allow the tank to be thoroughly cleaned. Neoprene gaskets and covers were made and screwed down to seal the tank.
